Victoria and Luca celebrated their love on the beautiful coast of Liguria, Italy
We fell in love with the location whilst on a four day wedding venue hunt around northern Italy last summer. The town itself is absolutely spectacular, set on the colourful Liguria coast right next to Portofino. We loved the fact that the wedding venue was in the heart of the town of Santa Margherita Ligure. This meant that guests could all stay in the same small location and even walk to the wedding venue! It removed so many logistics and transportation issues for us! Much of the props and decor for the reception, I bought and organised myself. For my colour palette, I wanted bold pinks in varying shades to reflect the magenta coloured villa and to also celebrate the vivid colours you find on all around Liguria.
My dress was bought from Mirror Mirror London and is by Lebanese designer Gemy Maalouf. I tried this dress on during my first shopping day and fell in love. I did visit 15 other boutiques in London to see what else was out there but I just knew it was the one. My dress was in no way simple, so the other details including my hair and makeup had to compliment it. I opted for an up-do, since firstly I didn’t want to detract from the dress and secondly we were having a summer wedding so it would be hot! For my makeup, I went quite glamorous on my eyes as my dress and wedding style was very glam.
Organising a wedding abroad definitely comes with its difficulties. I would definitely suggest hiring a coordinator to smoothen out any of the paper work and dealing with local suppliers. We could not have organised the day without our coordinator Anna who helped on so many levels. However the creative planning remained in my hand which is what I wanted from the beginning. One of the best things I did was get all of the big important things locked down as soon as I had decided on a venue. I booked the caterers, photographers, florists, and entertainment. Not only does this give you first dibs on the best suppliers, the earlier you book, it also means that you have more time to spend on finer details!
